Original work: PAINTING; OIL ON LINEN
Original size: 16 by 26 inches

This scene, painted in August 2025, depicts a historical event that took place in November 1998 when the brand-new CO of the Blue Angels, CDR Patrick Driscoll (Boss), landed a Blue Angels jet on an aircraft carrier for the first and only time in history. CDR Driscoll’s carrier landing qualification was still current and he planned a brief stop on our country’s newest Nimitz class aircraft carrier; USS Harry S. Truman. The carrier was operating off the coast of Virginia and Boss Driscoll performed two intentional touch-and-goes before catching the wire, refueling and being catapulted off the deck, and then repeated the same sequence a second time before flying back to shore.
