Why I chose this topic:
I started this painting to work on at the National World War I Museum in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri, as I was scheduled to work with the Communications Outreach Division of NHHC in November 2024 painting on location. I was originally born and raised in the Kansas City area and it seemed fitting that I would complete such a painting
.
Painting Details:
This painting was completed on 30 January 2025. It has been roughly a three-week project with holiday leave in Kansas City with family and to pick up the painting I had left there a few weeks earlier. I used a pre-gessoed smooth Centurion linen to aid in detail and I stretched the linen on Gator board using a neutral pH adhesive made by LineCoas I would be carrying it to KC on the airplane. The painting was accomplished using oil paints, Neo-Megilp (Gamblin) gel medium and was varnished with a 50/50 mixture of Gamsol odorless mineral spirits and Galkyd (both Gamblin products.)
