"Two blocks of TNT which I had tied together and threw in the hole and the Japs threw it back at me. It exploded behind me and blew the debris - wood, wire and gravel into my leg.
Note bald spot on head - caused by "Falling rocks from a blast because we got a little careless and didn't get far enough from the blast. You always got careless with TNT when you fool around with it long enough."
