Before the sick and wounded prisoners were returned to the United Nations Command, feeling that malnutrition and tuberculosis would run high in returnees was greatly speculated on by medical men, the latter proved to be true and definitely so in regard to Republic of Korea Army soldiers. In some cases these men were treated as well as could be expected by the communists, in other cases told only that had a lung cold or bad chest and given a face mask. In three winters-winters in North Korea - many died of T.B. alone.
