The death of this prominent Lakota leader (whose ‘vision’ inspired the Indian attack and triumph at Little Big Horn in 1876) marked the end of an era. Sitting Bull was a familiar figure to many Americans from the extensive publicity given his 1885 performances in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show.
