2dLt RAYMOND G. MURPHY, USMC
3 Feb 1953 • Korea
On a fire-swept hill in Korea, 2ndLt RAYMOND MURPHY led his platoon through a barrage of artillery, from one position to the next. Despite being painfully wounded, Murphy refused medical aid, carrying many wounded Marines to safety and remaining behind with a carbine to ward off the enemy until every one of his men, and all the casualties, had proceeded him to the main lines.
