On 26 October 1942, 33 Marines led by PltSgt Mitchell Paige took a stand against 2500 Japanese soldiers on Guadalcanal. All night, Paige ran from machine gun to machine gun, mowing down everything that moved, psyching the enemy into thinking they were up against a large Marine force. At dawn, he took one of the .30 caliber guns, threw his remaining belts of ammo around his neck and charged the hill, inspiring his men to follow.
