On 6 June 1918 in Chateau-Thierry, France G/Sgt. Ernest A. Janson saw 12 of the enemy, armed with 5 light machineguns, crawling toward his group. Sounding the alarm, he rushed the German detachment, bayoneting the 2 leaders and forcing the others to abandon their guns and flee.
