When the Marine Corps deployed its first 10 Bell Boeing Osprey tilt-rotor vertical takeoff and landing aircraft in 2007, combat artist Kris Battles was there to document it. Captain Faibisoff is standing in front of her Osprey at Al Asad Air Base in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. She was part of Marine Medium Tilt-rotor Squadron 263, the Thunder Chickens, which provided transportation and medevac services.
