On 25 July 1953, SSgt Ambrosio Guillen was with his company, defending a forward outpost along the 38th Parallel in Korea. Coming under attack by an overwhelming Chinese force, Guillen dashed from one fighting position to the next, directing fire, motivating his men, and supervising the evacuation of the wounded. Realizing his platoon was about to be wiped out, Guillen charged forward, engaging the enemy in fierce, hand-to-hand combat and inspiring renewed zeal in his Marines. The young hero later succumbed to his wounds.
