PFC RAYMOND CLAUSEN, USMC
31 January 1970 • Vietnam
As crew chief on a helicopter mission in Vietnam, PFC Raymond M. Clausen deliberately disobeyed orders from his pilot, leaping from the helicopter and weaving through a deadly network of hidden mines to pick up a wounded Marine and carry him back across the minefield to the chopper-
an act which Clausen repeated five more times, saving the lives of a total of 6 wounded Marines.
