Stairway to Heaven - Originally painted on a 24 x 36 canvas in oils. This was the first time I attempted a painting this large making it easier to use large brush strokes to blend together the multiple colors seen in the rocks. “Stairway to Heaven”is found at the beginning of one of my favorite trails through Mill Creek Park as seen right after crossing over The Silver Bridge. Its one of the most scenic and challenging trails in the park where you’ll see large boulders, caves, wild flowers, as you follow cliffs alongside a stream before reaching the wooden steps and walking deck overlooking a beautiful view of Little Cascade Waterfalls. At the top, cross over the road and you’ll see the trail pick up again that winds around and down toward Lake Cohasset. If you go right you can return to the Silver Bridge or extend your hike by following the lake on your right and follow the trail that leads to Cohasset falls and then the Pioneer Pavilion. Behind the building follow the "Artists Trail” along the stream that will take you toward a rest room across the street. You can go left & hike around the Lily Pond. Or, follow the rod on your right that will take you past the rock garden and to The Slippery Rock bridge - Lake Glacier will be on your left as you cross over it & go down the steep hill to reach the Slipper Rock park below. Follow the trail back to The Pioneer Pavilion and if you cross the street you’ll pick up the trail on the other side of the Cohasset falls & follow the lake and streams all the way back to the parking lot at The Silver Bridge. In my opinion what makes this approximately 6 mile loop the best in the world is that you get to walk mostly in shade and follow a variety of lakes, streams and waterfalls along the entire trail. If ordering of print of this painting - I highly recommend making it as large as your budget allows so that it allows the viewer to experience being there!
