The artist was an official combat artist assigned to cover the European Theater of Operations. This
artwork documents Exercise Tiger, the full scale dress rehearsal for D-Day that took place at Slapton
Sands, England in April 1944. The artist did not participate in the Normandy landings, but extensively
documented the remainder of the European campaign.
