The Coast Guard's Canine Explosive Detection Program started in 2002. There are currently 14 teams of canines and handlers in the program. Each Maritime Safety and Security Team at the following locations has two teams: Kings Bay, Georgia; Galveston, Texas; New York, New York; Los Angeles/Long Beach and San Francisco, California; and Seattle, Washington. There are also two teams with the Maritime Security Response Team, a counterterrorism unit in Chesapeake, Virginia. Courtesy of U.S. Coast Guard Art Collection, Washington, D.C.
