The Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard preserves the equestrian heritage of the Corps. This unit, based at Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow in California, rides mustangs adopted from the Bureau of Land Management. The active-duty Marines and their mounts perform ceremonial duties in parades, rodeos, and other community events as a symbol of Corps and country. In this image, the Mounted Color Guard is part of a change of command ceremony at Marine Corps Base Pendleton.
