Admiral Jonathan Greenert 30th Chief of Naval Operations: 23 Sep. 2011 - 18 September 2015 Years of supplying resources to the “Global War On Terror,” resulted in the reduction of the Navy’s presence in the Pacific Ocean. Admiral Greenert sought to “rebalance” the Navy’s assets by increasing its presence and replacing or renovating older ships. Here USS George Washington (CVN-73) departs Yokosuka, Japan, returning to the United States for a period of “Refueling and Complex Overhaul,” seen from the deck of USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19).
